THE MASTERS SCHOOL has gained immense recognition as one of the top college preparatory schools in the united states since its founding in 1877. it is located on a 96-acre suburban campus in DOBBS FERRY, NEW YORK, approximately 35 minutes away from new york city. the school provides academic stimulation to students from 6th to 12th grade, offering a wide variety of courses and a vast number of ap classes to prepare its students to become the leaders of tomorrow. currently, there are 580 students enrolled at the school, 415 of which are in upper school, which covers the 9th through 12th grades. THE MASTERS SCHOOL also features nationally acclaimed summer programs, from its top-notch summer school courses to the vast number of summer abroad trips available. most notably, the school offers a HUMANITIES ABROAD program to fulfill the required humanities credit -- a two-month trip to italy and greece over the summer, spending a month in each country to study the art, music, literature, and philosophy of the ancient worlds.

the HUMANITIES ABROAD trip will be the focus of the gameplay at

eurotripping. students are required to take at least one semester of humanities for graduation and the class is only available to juniors and seniors. most students opt out of taking the course and instead go on the two-month summer trip to italy and greece. it is an expensive trip; however, all financial aid provided at THE MASTERS SCHOOL also extends into summer programs, including HUMANITIES ABROAD. this also applies to the free tuition given to children of current faculty members.

RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION.

the rules here are basically the same as they are everywhere else, so there's no need for numbered lists and detailed explanations. basically, don't be a douchebag -- seriously, we want this to be fun for everyone, so be nice and all will be well. ic does not equal ooc; if one character dislikes another, that doesn't mean a player has a personal vendetta against someone else. on that note, if you have problems with a player, don't be rude about it; bring it up with the mods or try to civilly ignore that person. always, always, always remember that ooc information doesn't equal ic information; your character doesn't know everything you do. remember to update your journal once every two weeks for activity with anything you'd like and stay active in the subcommunities. no updates in three weeks means automatic removal, but you're always free to reapply. obviously, activity gives game life, so it's pretty key here. we really want to keep this going and keep it fun, so let us know what we can do to keep everyone interested and keep the character development going!

the communities: if accepted, post an ooc introduction at

bellhops within three days or else you will be removed immediately.

bellhops is the place to go for storyline requests (though you are obviously also more than free to pimp in

rps,

pbads, and the like as well) and anything you need to say oocly, like hiatus requests.

auguri is the main community; feel free to post logs and aim conversations there as well for activity.

opa is the random comm; basically, everything else goes there.

as for the time frame, it's important to note that this game is indeed a summer trip. the game will still be played in real time, just subtract six months from the current date -- e.g. november corresponds to may, december corresponds to june. the game will supposedly take place during the summer of 2010, but you are still free to use current events as they happen now for updates or general reference. we'll post an entry in the ooc comm every week letting you know what week it is icly and what's going on in the trip that week.

finally, because it is a school trip with chaperones, general school rules do apply to the trip. nevertheless, these are teenagers running around in europe, and rules will certainly be broken! the chaperones will mostly be a little more lenient about rules than they would at school, but all students should definitely still be pretty discreet in breaking them -- particularly in terms of drugs/alcohol and going to other people's rooms after "lights out." we will leave whether your character gets caught up to you, though, since most people are pretty savvy about how to stay out of trouble.
